President: Antoinette Zloty
Antoinette Zloty is a Consultant with Manitoba Health, Government of Manitoba. She completed a Master of Social Work degree in Social Policy and Administration (1985), a Bachelor of Social Work Degree (1977) and several years of experience in health, family and social services. In addition to being a Field Instructor with the Faculty of Social Work, University of Manitoba, she is a promoter of youths’ and seniors' involvement in cultural diversity and women’s equality. Her interest, creativity, commitment, experience, efficiency and effectiveness are demonstrated in polices, programs and services which are still in operation today. Antoinette Zloty (nee Simmons) was the first President and a founding member of the Barbados Association of Winnipeg Inc. Also serves as a board member of the Manitoba Association of Social Workers (MASW) and the Manitoba Institute of Registered Social Workers (MIRSW) and the Center on Aging, University of Manitoba. She is married and is a mother of a daughter and a son. Effective April 30, 2011, she was elected as the President of the Congress of Black Women of Manitoba Inc. on December 16, 2011.
Vice-President and Publicity: Lois Stewart - Archer
Lois Stewart-Archer is the Regional Clinical Nurse Specialist of the Winnipeg Health Region, Rehabilitation and Geriatrics Programme - Geriatric Mental Health. She has a Master’s of Nursing degree specializing in both Administration and Restorative Health as well as Specialty Certificate in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing from the Canadian Nurses Association since 1995. She is currently engaged in doctoral studies. She provides consultations to a wide range of professionals and families regarding the management and treatment of challenging issues related to older adults with mental health/psychiatric concerns. Provision of education to these various groups is a major component of her role, as well. She guest lectures at the Universities of Manitoba and Brandon and Colleges and sits on several committees related to addressing issues pertinent to seniors. She enjoys working with these sages and strongly endorses the maintenance of the integrity, spirit, independence, and well-being of older adults with whom she works. Lois is the newly elected Vice–President of the Congress of Black Women and views this as another avenue to further advocate for women, women’s health, and minority issues. She is very active in her church and sits on the Public Relations Committee and is the editor of the Church Bulletin. Lois has been married to Brian for 21 years and they have 2 children.
Secretary: Beatrice Watson
Beatrice Watson is a poet, author, journalist, publisher (Global eyes), college and university graduate and civil servant. She has been a freelance feature and news writer for several publications including, the Winnipeg Free Press, Toronto Sun, London Free Press, Sarnia Observer, Selkirk Enterprise , Selkirk Journal and Thunder Bay Journal and Times News. Beatrice is originally from Guyana, South America and has been living in Canada for the past 27 years and is a mother of two daughters.
